Chanel 2.55

One of my all time favourite bags is the Chanel 2.55 seen in the picture above on Blake Lively.

Chanel made a huge comeback into fashion in 1954 and in this phase of her career she created one of the most iconic Chanel pieces the Chanel 2.55. Mademoiselle Coco Chanel was tired of carrying around her handbags in her arms and designed a bag that let her be hands free :-) The bag is named 2.55 for the month of February and year 1955 that it was created. Key features of the bag were the double chain strap, quilted leather and a front lock called “the Mademoiselle Lock.”

Since its introduction in 1955, the bag has been reinvented with many variations including fabric composition and the "interlocking CC" lock.
